COMPOSITION

Excipients: lactose, povidone K30 (polyvinylpyrrolidone), croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, ethyl alcohol, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose / polyethylene glycol, rutile titanium dioxide.

PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION

AnastroGold® is a potent non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor and highly selective. In postmenopausal women, estradiol is produced primarily from the conversion of androstenedione to estrone through the aromatase enzyme complex in peripheral tissues.
Subsequently, oestrone is converted to oestradiol. It has been shown that circulating levels of estradiol reduction produces a beneficial effect in breast cancer. In postmenopausal women, anastrozole daily dose of 1 mg produced suppression of estradiol higher than 80%, using a
highly sensitive method.

PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES

The anastrozole absorption is rapid and maximum plasma concentrations typically occur within 2 hours of dosing (under fasted conditions). AnastroGold® is eliminated slowly with a  plasma elimination half-life of 40 to 50 hours. Food slightly reduce the rate of absorption but not theextent of absorption.

INDICATIONS

AnastroGold Treatment of early breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Reducing the incidence of contralateral breast cancer in patients receiving anastrozole as adjuvant treatment for early breast cancer. Treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
