PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES
Oxymetholone a potent androgenic and anabolic drugs, enhances the production and excretion of urinary erythropoietin in patients with anemia due to bone marrow failure and often stimulates erythropoiesis and anemia due to impaired production of red blood cells.
INDICATIONS
The oxymetholone (50 mg tablets) is indicated for treatment of anemia caused by the underproduction of red blood cells. The acquired aplastic anemia, congenital aplastic anemia, myelofibrosis and hipoplásticas anemias due to the administration of myelotoxic substances
often respond to treatment.
Contraindications of OxytoGold®
Before the institution of therapy, the physician must weigh the risks that come along with the patient needs, since anabolic agents are generally contraindicated in the following situations:
1.Carcinoma prostate or breast in male patients.
2.Carcinoma breast in female patients with hypercalcemia; androgenic anabolic steroids may stimulate osteolytic bone resorption.
3. PREGNANCY: oxymetholone can be harmful to the fetus when administered to pregnant women. Therefore, it is contraindicated in pregnant or may become pregnant. If the patient becomes pregnant while taking the drug, she should be apprised of the potential hazard to the fetus.
4. Nephrosis or nephrotic phase of nephritis.
5. Hypersensitivity.
